Workshops with Amy take place in the Flower Studio, tucked away in the vegetable patch at Hamsey House, Nr Lewes, East Sussex
They are run in small groups to ensure you can relax, enjoy the space and tranquil setting. There is always time to wander through the garden, cut some stems and enjoy a cup of tea and cake.

Autumn Flower Bowl Workshop
We will create a flower bowl using locally grown flowers. The morning will include a walk around the garden discussing and selecting stems and foliage to use in the bowl. The mechanics in the bowl are a pin frog and chicken wire - no floral foam. Bring on the dahlias!

How to design a beautiful border
Join Laurie McMillian – a professional gardener with over 25 years experience. She has extensive knowledge of plants and the conditions in which they flourish. The course will focus on how to create a beautiful planting display for your own garden borders. You will learn about colour, form and texture and how to apply these principles in your own garden border and select the correct plants. You are guaranteed to return home with lots of fabulous ideas on how to transform your borders to be full of beautiful plants that work harmoniously together and create a fabulous display through the seasons.
British Flower Week : Floral table arrangement
Capture the moment in the garden when the flowers are at their peak and celebrate British Flower Week with me. We can gather flowers and foliage and then create beautiful table centrepieces with them. The price includes the stone vase which is yours to take home and refill, inspired by your morning in the garden at Hamsey.

Meadow Flower Bowl
In the orchard there is a beautiful wild flower meadow. It starts flowering in May. We will walk around the garden and gather flowers and foliage to create our meadow inspired arrangements in a bowl from Emma Hilton Ceramics. The session will finish with photographing the bowls and capturing the moment in the garden.

“I enjoy sharing the garden through my love of seasonal flowers. Guiding people how to create with flowers that you can’t buy, that are freshly picked, brings me great joy. I love seeing people walking back up the garden clutching what they have made in the Flower Studio and smiling from ear to ear. If I can inspire people to create with flowers or stems they might not have considered using before then that is brilliant ”

"Today was pure joy for me. I loved every minute of it. When I got home, I was inspired to sketch my flowers, make small posies using the ox eye daisies in my neglected patch & even cook a far more elaborate meal than I had planned!" Nicky
